West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has not scored in his last four Premier League starts and supporters have been debating whether the Italian needs to be taken out of the firing line.
The forward has looked pretty isolated up front so some have suggested that Michail Antonio might well be a better fit, at least until Lucas Paquesta returns from injury. Fans on Twitter are, however, split on whether Scamacca should keep his place:
I’m a little concerned that Scamacca was signed without fully taking into account Moyes tactics.
If you’re going to sit deep and counter attack teams, the ball over the top has to be an option.
Scamacca is good, but needs to be receiving the ball nearer to the opps goal.

The lack of creativity behind Scamacca is the problem. Use Fornals or Lanzini.

Striker being used incorrectly all over again, wonder when we last saw this🤔

Scamacca isn’t the problem. It’s the midfield 3 of Rice, Soucek and Downes. Zero flair.

Exactly this. Antonio is much more suited to how we play

What do u expect him to do isolated up front

Put Fornals in the 10 if Paqueta out. That is Fornals position! Downes into Souceks role. But we know what’ll happen….

It’s definitely the case that the lack of creativity in midfield isn’t helping Scamacca. The 23-year-old is being starved of service and he is feeding off scraps.
Manager David Moyes, therefore, has a choice to make. He can either bring in the likes of Manuel Lanzini or Pablo Fornals to give Scamacca a supply line or he can revert to the tried and tested method of using Antonio to run the channels. We shall see who gets the nod versus Crystal Palace on Sunday.
