‘Go Get Him’ ‘Makes Total Sense ‘Do It’ West Ham Fans On Social Media Keen For Club TO Snap Up Ex-Chelsea Star

West Ham are weighing up a move for ex-Chelsea defender Gary Cahill, according to reports in the English media. Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is looking to strengthen his backline before the transfer window shuts.

Cahill is said to be one of three possible targets being considered along with Alaves’s Guillermo Maripan and New York Red Bulls centre-half Aaron Long. Fans on Twitter believe Cahill would be a decent addition to the squad:

At 33 years of age, Cahill would only be a short-term solution for Pellegrini but his experience could prove invaluable to reinforce an area of the squad that requires improvement.

The Hammer conceded 55 goals in the Premier League last season, but they have yet to dip into the market this summer for a defender. Instead, the club’s focus has been on recruiting more attacking options.

With West Ham having limited funds following their acquisitions of Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller, Cahill could well be seen as a cost-effective signing with the veteran available on a free transfer.
