Five Strikers West Ham May Look To Target Before The End Of January

It appears that West Ham are currently focused on signing a new goalkeeper, as well as a central midfielder, but manager David Moyes may also be keen on strengthening his forward line before the end of the month.

Albian Ajeti has flattered to deceive since arriving from Basel in the summer and has not offered sufficient backup for Sebastien Haller.

It’s likely, therefore, that another striker will be targeted, but who could be available for a relatively low price?

Press the “next page” as we identify five strikers that the Hammers may look at before the transfer window closes.

Jarrod Bowen

The 23-year-old has been scoring goals for fun in the Championship for Hull City but no Premier League side has yet to make a move for the forward.

Bowen has been scouted by the Irons, according to reports, and while he is generally seen as a winger, he has also played through the middle on occasions this season.

Ollie Watkins

Like Bowen, the Brentford ace was often used out wide until this campaign, when Neal Maupay’s departure for Brighton led to Bees boss Thomas Frank moving him centrally.

The switch has paid dividends with Watkins having scored 18 goals in 27 Championship games so far this season.

Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman is an experienced campaigner, and would certainly offer a focal point for West Ham’s attack which Moyes may well be looking for.

At 33 years of age, Giroud would only be a short term solution, but the veteran forward does have the knack of scoring important goals, which may be needed as the Hammers look to avoid a relegation battle.

Karl Toko-Ekambi

The Villarreal striker has been linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent days. The Cameroon international hasn’t had the best of seasons, having scored just six goals in all competitions, but he would offer a different option to Haller.

Whether West Ham would have the funds to finance a move for Toko-Ekambit this month, though, it remains to be seen. He is said to be valued at €25m (£21m).

Habib Diallo

The 24-year-old has been linked with a €20m move to Chelsea in recent days but West Ham may well be considering a bid for the Metz striker as well, considering his recent form.

Diallo has scored 10 goals in 19 league appearances this season, after bagging 26 goals in Metz’s promotion-winning season last campaign.
