West Ham Join Three Way Fight For £21m Rated Cameroon International Striker

West Ham are one of three teams interested in signing Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi, according to reports in France.

Newcastle and Lyon are also keen on the Cameroonian international who could be available for €25m (£21m) during the January transfer window.

The Hammers are seeking to reinforce their frontline and had been heavily linked with Inter Milan forward Gabigol, but it appears they are also looking at Toko Ekambi.

The 27-year-old has only scored six goals in 18 appearances this campaign but he bagged 18 goals in all competitions last season despite Villarreal finishing 14th in La Liga.

Newcastle, in particular, are said to be very interested in Toko Ekambi so they may present the biggest challenge to West Ham, but Lyon are the team that are in the most advanced talks.

The Ligue One side reportedly tabled a €14m (£12m) offer for the Cameroon forward but it fell quite a bit short of Villarreal’s valuation of the player.
