Crooks Singles Out West Ham Ace For ‘Vital’ Contributions And Praises His ‘Sheer Determination’

BBC pundit Gary Crooks has praised West Ham forward Michail Antonio for the major role he played in the 3-1 win against Southampton on Saturday.

The 29-year-old has had his fair share of injury problems this campaign, but he grabbed his second goal of the season at the weekend, along with making a number of other key interventions in the victory versus the Saints.

Crooks says that Antonio may not always be easy on the eye, but he makes up for it by being prepared to put in a shift:

“It might be only his second goal of the season but Antonio’s work rate and general contributions to West Ham’s victory over Southampton was vital. What this lad lacks in finesse, he more than makes up for in sheer determination.”

Antonio is probably the first name on the teamsheet for David Moyes when he is fit. He is almost impossible to get the ball off when in possession, and his willingness to try things makes him a dangerous attacking weapon.

His flexibility to play in a number of positions also makes him a tremendous asset, and if he stays fit, he will certainly play a crucial role in helping the Hammers avoid relegation.
