Championship Star Admits He Held “A Few Conversations” With Agent About Making West Ham Switch

Nottingham Forest fullback Matty Cash has revealed that he was aware of interest from West Ham during the January transfer window.

The Hammers reportedly had a £10m offer rejected for the 22-year-old, with Forest wanting £15m for the player.

Cash said he did hold a number of discussions with his agent about the interest from the London club but he was focused on playing for Forest at the time:

“My agent had a few chats with me. There were a few conversations but I had a job to do at the time and a few games to focus on. But I heard about it, yeah!”

It will be interesting to see whether the Irons do revive their interest in the fullback in the summer, but considering the economic downturn, it is unlikely that they will offer anywhere close to their original bid.

Pablo Zabaleta’s impending departure will, though, likely force the club’s hand into looking for a new right-back. Jeremy Ngakia has performed ably when called upon, but manager David Moyes is likely keen to have someone with more experience to challenge Ryan Fredericks for a first-team place.
