Former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp is tipping West Ham winger Felipe Anderson to have a standout campaign for the Hammers.
The player turned TV pundit, believes that the Brazilian could be the club’s standout performer over the course of the season, but he thinks it could lead to the player attracting the ‘big six’ next summer:
“They have signed Sebastien Haller for £45m but I also think Anderson, who cost £36m when he joined from Lazio last summer, is capable of reaching that next level.”
“Sorry West Ham fans, but I think we’ll see Anderson enjoy a stand-out season and that big clubs will come calling with £60m-plus bids next summer.”
Fans on Twitter are questioning Redknapp’s valuation of Anderson, with many believing the 26-year-old will be worth a lot more than £60m:
£60m would then of course be laughed off. If he's going to the "next level" then we'd be entertaining nothing shy of £80m

Redknapp, whatever one, buys into the old pundit cliche of any player outside ‘top six’ who does well automatically gets sold to ‘big club’. That just does not happen anymore. No club has to sell, witness Palace and Zaha. Those that do go, Maguire, go for silly, inflated fees.

We are a big club ?

Redknapp called him a superstar yet a bid of 60M is going to take him away from us. What a terrible pundit

Iwobi just sold for £40m and his about 5x better than Iwobi so £200m minimum for Felipe please

And £60m would be getting laughed at if Zaha was supposedly getting sold off for £80m

£60m for a superstar ????????????????

West Ham’s midfield is certainly going to trouble a lot of opponents this season. With Manuel Lanzini, new signing Pablo Fornals and even Jack Wilshere adding to Anderson’s creativity, manager Manuel Pellegrini has assembled a talented group of playmakers.
Anderson could, though, be the standout performer amongst them. The Brazilian didn’t need much time to settle in England after his £36m from Lazio last summer, scoring ten goals and providing five assists in 40 appearances for the Irons.
