£35m Rated Colombian Marksman Responds To Transfer Talk Following West Ham Links

Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata has responded to speculation that he may leave the Italian club at the end of the season.

The Colombian is currently on a two-year loan from Sampdoria, but reports had linked him with a €40m (£35m) move to West Ham in January.

Asked about potentially moving on from Atalanta, Zapata responded by saying he is only focused on the current season:

“Today I only think of Atalanta, I am enjoying the present and I am thinking of Atalanta, my mind is to finish well, it is fundamental to be able to do it.”

Although his comments certainly don’t suggest he is looking to move clubs, it seems he is also keeping his options open ahead of the summer transfer window.

Zapata has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season and is currently just one behind Sampdoria veteran Fabio Quagliarella in the race to be Serie A’s top goalscorer.

The 28-year-old could be a potential alternative to the likes of Celta Vigo’s Maxo Gomez. Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Boca Juniors’ Dario Benedetto, who the Hammers have also been linked with in recent days.
