West Ham are planning to recruit at least four players for the first team squad this summer, according to reports.
The Times claim that head coach Graham Potter wants a new centre-back, left-back, central midfielder and a forward.
Most fans would regard that business as a bare minimum, considering the number of players who could leave the London Stadium over the next few months.
There are serious doubts over the futures of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and even Jean-Clair Todibo, while The Times have confirmed that new contracts are unlikely to be offered to Vladimir Coufal, Aaron Cresswell and Danny Ings, who are all set to depart on free transfers.
With Michail Antonio and Lukasz Fabianski also having deals that expire at the end of June, there could be significant turnover in the squad.
Who could West Ham sign to strengthen the defence?
In terms of centre-backs, it has been suggested that Potter is keen to sign one of his former players from Brighton, Adam Webster. The 30-year-old is not a regular starter for the Seagulls and he has a year left on his contract.
Burnley’s CJ Egan-Riley is also said to be a top target, and it would not be a surprise if both were brought in, especially if Todibo doesn’t stay.
When it comes to left-backs, the Irons have been linked with Werder Bremen’s Felix Agu this week while there is longstanding interest in Club Brugge’s Maxim De Cuyper.
Are there targets to reinforce the midfield and up front?
Hammers’ scouts are known to be big fans of Sunderland’s Chris Rigg but it remains to be seen whether a bid will be lodged for the young midfielder. AC Milan’s Yunus Musah and Lille’s Angel Gomes are on the club’s radar too.
Up front, it is believed that West Ham are favourites to land Jonathan David, but the club are also interested in Ipswich’s Liam Delap.
