West Ham are joint 17th on the list of clubs who have won the most trophies in English football.
While the Hammers have had a long and storied history, it must be said that they have not matched some of their London rivals in terms of silverware over the years.
Even so, the club did add to their trophy cabinet very recently, having beaten Fiorentina to win the Europa Conference League final in May 2023. Fans will be hoping for more famous nights like that in the near future.
West Ham’s trophy record
The Irons have won 7 major trophies since the club was founded in 1900, including 3 FA Cups, the Charity Shield, the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the aforementioned Europa Conference League.
West Ham have also won the Second Division on two separate occasions (1958 and 1981), the UEFA Intertoto Cup, the Football League War Cup and nine London Challenge Cups.
How many times have West Ham won the Premier League?
The London club have never finished as champions in the top division in their entire history, with the highest position in the Premier League era being 5th. Harry Redknapp’s side finished on 57 points, having won 16 of their 38 league games. David Moyes came closest to matching that achievement when his team finished 6th during the 2020/2021 season.
Their highest league ranking of all time is 3rd, when legendary manager John Lyall guided his team to 84 points in 1986, finishing four points adrift of league champions Liverpool.
How does West Ham’s trophy record compare to rivals?
The Hammers are well behind their London rivals when it comes to silverware. Arsenal have lifted 49 major trophies in their history, including 13 league titles, and 19 domestic cups, making them the third-most successful club in England.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have secured 34 titles in all, having won the league on 6 occasions (five of which have been won in the 21st century). The Blues have also lifted the Champions League (2012, 2021) on two separate occasions, in addition to the Europa League (2012, 2019), European Cup Winners Cup (1971, 1998), UEFA Super Cup (1998, 2021) and FIFA Club World Cup (2021).
Tottenham haven’t won a major trophy since the 2008 League Cup final but they still hold a considerable lead over West Ham in terms of overall silverware – 26 in total. Since being founded in 1882, Spurs have won two top division titles (1951 and 1961), 8 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 7 Charity Shields. In European competitions, they have lifted one European Cup Winners Cup (1963) and two UEFA Cups (1972 and 1984)
