West Ham are weighing up a move for Inter Milan centre-back Yann Bisseck, according to reports in the French media.
Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna claims the Hammers are “interested” in signing the German international.
Bisseck’s team are said to be “ready to sell” if they receive a good enough offer for the defender.
However, Inter are also keen on signing a replacement and they have identified Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile as one of their main targets.
What do fans need to know about Bisseck?
The centre-half came through the academy at FC Cologne before being sent out on five separate loan spells to the likes of Holstein Kiel, Roda JC, Vitoria Guimaraes’ B team and Danish side AGF Aarhus.
Bisseck did enough during his time in Denmark to seal a permanent move to AGF in the summer of 2022. After just one season, he had attracted the attention of Inter Milan, who paid €7m for his services at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign.
The German was a bit-part player with the Nerazzurri during his first 12 months at the San Siro but head coach Simone Inzaghi has played him more often this season. He even started both legs of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
West Ham are keen to strengthen the centre of defence
Graham Potter is believed to be unhappy with his centre-back options. Jean-Clair Todibo is poised to join permanently from Nice, but there are doubts about the futures of both Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Nayef Aguerd, meanwhile, is expected to be sold once his loan spell at Real Sociedad comes to an end.
At 24 years of age, Bisseck still has his best years ahead of him and it appears Potter and Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay have identified him as a top summer target.
