West Ham have the option to extend Tomas Soucek’s stay at the London Stadium for another twelve months, according to reports in the Czech media.

It has been claimed that the Hammers would consider offloading the 31-year-old, with the player reaching the final year of his contract.

However, iSport (via Sport Witness) say that there is a clause allowing Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to keep Soucek until the summer of 2028.

At this stage, there are no indications that the option will be triggered. The club have not spoken to the midfielder about his future recently, as the only priority currently is staying in the Premier League.

Is Soucek likely to leave West Ham?

Some reports have suggested that Nuno is not interested in keeping the Czech international around beyond the end of the campaign, despite having singled out the player for praise in recent months.

Like every other member of the squad, he will be taking an automatic pay cut if the Irons are relegated, so it would not be a massive burden to keep him even if the London club are playing in the Championship next season.

Soucek would have suitors

It is believed that any final decision on whether to offload the midfielder would come at the end of May, when West Ham’s fate has been decided.

Former Hammers boss David Moyes has shown interest in taking Soucek to Everton before, and many assume that, if he does end up leaving after six and a half years, Merseyside would be his most likely destination.

Turkish clubs, such as Galatasary and Besiktas, are also said to be keen on the Czech star.
