West Ham have joined the race to sign Slavia Prague striker Tomas Chory, according to reports in the Czech media.

InFotbol.cz claim the Hammers are among several suitors who are keen on securing the 31-year-old’s services.

Viktoria Plzen, Slovan Liberec and Legia Warsaw are also said to be interested in Chory, who has been a prolific scorer at four different clubs.

The forward has found the back of the net 132 times in his career, including 17 last season.

West Ham have a history of signing players from Slavia Prague

Over the past six years, the Irons have raided the Czech side for three signings. Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal both arrived within months of each other in 2020.

El Hadji Malick Diouf moved to the London Stadium last summer, and it seems Chory could well be the fourth player to make the same journey.

At the moment, no final decision has been made on whether the Czech international will leave Slavia Prague, but inFotbal believe that “lucrative offers” from abroad may prove too difficult to resist.

Where would Chory fit into Nuno’s plans?

It should be pointed out that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is not exactly short of strikers at the moment. Taty Castellanos, Niclas Fullkrug and Pablo are all still on the club’s books.

However, there is a feeling that, at least, Fullkrug will be let go before the transfer window shuts, and the Hammers need to anticipate a potential departure up front.

Chory isn’t getting any younger, and he would undoubtedly be a short-term fix – a squad option in the Championship for Nuno as the club look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
