‘Much Prefer This To Disasi’ ‘He’s Been Horrible In The Championship’ Fans React As West Ham Switch Centre-Back Targets

West Ham are weighing up a move for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, according to multiple reports.

Sky Sports are one of several news outlets that have confirmed the Hammers are considering the 24-year-old as a potential alternative to Chelsea’s Axel Disasi.

There has been a very mixed reaction to the club’s interest in Harwood-Bellis among fans on X, with some believing he is the best option available, while others do not rate him whatsoever:

What is going on with Disasi?

There have been conflicting reports on how advanced talks with Chelsea are. Fabrizio Romano had suggested that the 27-year-old was “close” to joining West Ham.

However, when asked whether Disasi was on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge, Blues boss Liam Rosenior replied:

“No, not at the moment.”

It was reported yesterday that Disasi would be interested in staying in London, which would hand the Irons the advantage in negotiations, but it looks as if the club are having second thoughts.

West Ham have had Harwood-Bellis on their radar for a while

The former Manchester City academy graduate was first linked with a move to the London Stadium during the 2023 summer transfer window.

It seems that scouts have kept a close eye on Harwood-Bellis’s progress since then. He is currently playing for a Southampton team that find themselves 15th in the Championship, having conceded 41 goals in 29 matches.
