West Ham have made a “sensational bid” for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, according to reports.
The Spanish international has scored 22 goals this season and Claret & Hugh claim that the Hammers have made offers worth up to €60m (£52m) for the player.
With Porto having set their asking price at around €80m (£69.5m), Graham Potter’s side have not been able to secure an agreement. Considering West Ham’s record for tabling bids that they know will be rejected, fans on X are not particularly impressed by this latest development:

Aghehowa could have been signed for a lot less last summer
The Irons were among the 20-year-old’s suitors prior to his move to Porto back in August. His asking price at the time was between €30m and €35m.
Chelsea were close to securing his signature but the deal with Atletico Madrid collapsed at the very last moment, leading to him moving to Portugal. Since then, the likes of Manchester United have also registered their interest in the forward.
Who could West Ham target instead?
Ipswich’s Liam Delap has been touted as an alternative due to a £30m release clause in his contract but the amount of interest being shown in the England Under 21 international means he isn’t really an option.
There have been claims in recent days that the Hammers are scouting Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis but he would cost just as much as Aghehowa. More realistic targets include the likes of Lille’s Jonathan David, Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha, Fiorentina’s Moise Kean and Mainz’s Jonathan Burkardt.
