West Ham Hoping For ‘Bidding War’ As Lazio ‘Join Host Of Clubs’ Battling For Wantaway Forward

Lazio are the latest team to register an interest in West Ham forward Niclas Fullkrug, according to reports.

Hammers News claim that the Serie A side will “join a host of clubs” pursuing the German international, whose agent has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he wants out of the London Stadium.

It is believed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will try to make the best of a bad situation, and there is genuine hope that a “bidding war” will ensue over the coming weeks.

Fullkrug has a reputation for scoring goals at club level in Germany, as well as for his national team, so despite his struggles in England, there is still a market for his services.

Who else will make an offer for the West Ham striker?

Lazio’s city rivals Roma and AC Milan have been mentioned as potential suitors in recent days, while the 32-year-old is expected to be the subject of bids from Germany too.

It has been suggested that Eintracht Frankfurt may make a move for Fullkrug following the injury sustained by Jonathan Burkhardt.

Wolfsburg and Hamburg have also been linked, but a lot will hinge on which of these teams are prepared to pay a transfer fee for the player. It’s unlikely that the Irons will sanction a loan exit as funds need to be raised for his replacement.

Could Fullkrug be included in a swap deal?

AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez is said to be a target for West Ham and there have been reports of a potential exchange that would include Fullkrug.

However, there are reports in Italy that claim that the Rossoneri are not keen on the German, with the Serie A side preferring a swap with Jean-Clair Todibo instead.
