Juventus are weighing up a move for West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug, according to reports in Italy.
The Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that the Serie A side are considering the German international as an economical solution to strengthen their attacking options.
Dusan Vlahovic is expected to leave Juve (with the Serbian having a year left on his contract), while Randal Kolo Muani is not certain to stay in Turin after joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
It means the Bianconeri are short of numbers up front and they have identified Fullkrug as a potential target.
Juventus’s offer is likely to be rejected
It is believed that the Italian club will try their luck with a loan bid for the 32-year-old, despite the fact that he only joined West Ham from Borussia Dortmund for £27m 10 months ago.
While the Hammers would probably consider letting Fullkrug leave on a permanent basis if they can recoup some of the money spent on the forward, it would be surprising if they accepted a loan, unless it included a fee upfront and an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
West Ham have very few options up top
Danny Ings will leave the London Stadium when his contract expires at the end of this month, while Evan Ferguson will return to Brighton at the same time. There are also no guarantees that Michail Antonio will remain with the Irons beyond the summer.
If Fullkrug’s departure is sanctioned, it could potentially leave head coach Graham Potter without a recognised No.9 in the first team squad. It would mean that head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay would have a massive job on his hands to reinforce a key position before the transfer window closes.
