West Ham Make £107M Transfer Decision As Club Plot Radical Summer Overhaul

West Ham have decided to sell four players who were signed for a combined £107m, according to reports.

The Guardian claim that Konstantinos Mavropanos (signed for £19m), Emerson Palmieri (£15m), Edson Alvarez (£35m) and Mohammed Kudus (£38m) could all be let go over the coming months.

Based on their performances this season, it is not a total surprise that the Hammers are prepared to offload the quartet this summer.

Mavropanos, in particular, has been prone to making errors since arriving from Stuttgart at the start of last season.

Emerson has lost his place to youngster Ollie Scarles, while neither Alvarez nor Kudus have performed to the expected level.

Kudus will raise the most cash

With West Ham having been backed into a corner in terms of PSR, the only way to reshape the squad is to raise funds through player sales.

For that reason, The Guardian report that selling Kudus is the “best way” to increase the transfer budget available to head coach Graham Potter and his head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have been mentioned as possible suitors but a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr is believed to be a more viable option, with an offer of around €100m (£85m) on the cards.

West Ham are also anticipating bids for Alvarez

The Mexican international has attracted interest from Manchester United in the past, but the departure of his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag means that avenue has been closed.

Borussia Dortmund is said to be a more likely destination. The German club were close to snapping up the midfielder prior to his move to the Irons but the deal collapsed after they failed to agree personal terms.

There is a potential for that transfer to be revived, although Dortmund are unlikely to pay a fee close to the £35m that West Ham signed Alvarez for.
