West Ham Are Among 3 Clubs Considering Approach For Striker Who Has Scored 55 International Goals

West Ham are weighing up the possibility of signing Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi, according to SportItalia reporter Gianluigi Longari.

The Iranian international, who has scored 55 times for his country, is available for transfer this summer and Longari says that the Hammers, Fulham and Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas are all interested in the player.

Taremi was prolific during his time at Porto, scoring 91 goals in 182 appearances, but after moving to Italy last year, he has struggled to find the back of the net.

The forward bagged just 3 in 43 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign, despite starting 18 of those matches.

Taremi’s age means he would not be a long-term solution

The Iranian has just turned 33, so you would think that Graham Potter’s side would only be interested in signing him on a short-term deal.

With reports linking the club with a move for ex-Newcastle striker Callum Wilson, you wouldn’t think that both players would be brought in, considering their similar age profiles.

The likes of Taremi, Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have likely all been identified as cheap solutions to strengthen Potter’s options up front, but only one would probably be snapped up.

Are West Ham looking at any other forwards?

It has been claimed that Potter is happy to go into the season with Niclas Fullkrug as his only recognised No.9. Considering the German’s recent fitness record, that would be a foolhardy decision.

You can see Wilson being brought in to add a bit of depth, but it is hardly inspiring to see the Irons making do with two ageing, injury-prone players leading the line.

Heading into the summer, every supporter assumed that a new striker was among the club’s top priorities, but it appears finances have dictated the club’s decision-making in the transfer market.
