West Ham are hoping to terminate the contract of Maxwel Cornet, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.
Speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast (quotes via their website), Ex said that the Hammers are looking to part ways with the Ivorian international:
“We understand the club are now exploring a potential deal that will see Cornet’s deal ended, which is something I think many feel would be best for all parties.”
“It’s still very much in the early stages, but there is a potential mutual agreement to terminate his contract ahead of its expiry next year.”
Cornet’s disappointing West Ham career
The winger had impressed during his time at Burnley and many supporters agreed with the decision to sign the player for £17.5m in 2022.
However, things have not worked out for Cornet. 1 goal and 7 assists in 37 appearances is not the worst record in the world, but he struggled to get on the pitch due to constant fitness problems.
A calf injury kept him out for 31 matches for club and country not long after his arrival at the London Stadium, and things didn’t get much better for him from that point onwards.

He last played for West Ham in April 2024
Cornet’s last competitive match for the Irons came against Crystal Palace near the end of the 2023/24 season. He provided an assist in that match, which ended in a 5-2 defeat.
The forward has subsequently spent time on loan at Southampton and Genoa, but injuries have followed him wherever he has gone.
Cornet did make an appearance for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in a pre-season friendly against Stevenage, but he has not made the matchday squad for any of the club’s eight games since the new campaign kicked off last month.
