West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes is not “untouchable” amid links to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Claret & Hugh.

The website asked a “top transfer source” to ascertain whether there is any truth to the PSG rumour, and they replied:

“The big clubs have a direct line to Jorge Mendes [the player’s agent], I’m sure he’d have spoken to a number of clubs.”

Fernandes is expected to be in high demand at the end of the season, and some fans on X are already resigned to losing the player:

Premier League clubs are also interested in Fernandes

In addition to PSG, both Manchester United and Manchester City have been mentioned as potential suitors for the 21-year-old.

The Athletic mentioned in an article today that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on Fernandes.

City, meanwhile, have Hugo Viana as their Director of Football. He was at Sporting Lisbon when Fernandes was at the club, and he will also have a direct line to Jorge Mendes.

West Ham will have a better chance of keeping him if they stay up

Relegation will inevitably lead to the vultures circling, so a lot will hinge on the Hammers retaining their top-flight status.

As things stand, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are two points above 18th-place Tottenham with five games remaining this season.
