West Ham Prepared To Sell Key Player If “Substantial Offer” Is Received Amid Rumours Of £50M Proposal

There is a belief that West Ham will offload Lucas Paqueta if a “substantial offer” is tabled between now and the transfer deadline on Monday evening, according to reports.

Writing on The West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), trusted insider ExWHUEmployee made it clear that the Brazilian international could leave the London Stadium for the right price:

“I do believe if a substantial offer comes in it could still be accepted but time will tell.”

“A further club source has confirmed that they do not expect to sell Lucas Paqueta this window. So let’s hope we can trust their word.”

Villa have made contact about signing Paqueta

Aston Villa are said to have tabled a proposal worth around £50m. It would be a season-long loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The figure is said to include the loan fee and performance-related add-ons so you can’t see the bid being accepted. The Hammers value Paqueta at £60m and Villa’s offer is significantly below that figure.

The West Ham star wants to leave

Several journalists have claimed that Paqueta is now pushing for a move away from the Irons. However, he was in the matchday squad for the game against Nottingham Forest.

Head coach Graham Potter has reportedly urged the club’s board to keep the midfielder but he may have a tough time persuading him to stay.

Paqueta saw a move to Manchester City collapse a couple of years ago, with spot-fixing allegations having played a major role in that transfer breaking down. It was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano a couple of weeks ago that he is now seeking a “fresh challenge” and it remains to be seen if he will get his wish.
