Romano Reveals Whether Soon To Be “Free Agent” Has Decided On His Next Club Amid West Ham Rumours

West Ham transfer target Kyle Walker-Peters “will leave Southampton” and become a “free agent” when his contract expires next month, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The England international has been tipped to make the switch to the London Stadium but Romano says the player is still deciding where he will play his football next season:

“Kyle Walker-Peters will leave Southampton as free agent, playing his final game at the club this weekend. No decision yet on new club, exploring all options available.”

The 28-year-old’s former club, Tottenham, and Fulham have also been mentioned as potential suitors, along with the Hammers.

West Ham need to strengthen the right-hand side

The club confirmed earlier this month that Vladimir Coufal will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season. It means that head coach Graham Potter will be left with just one recognised right-back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Coufal was believed to be keen on staying in London, having joined from Slavia Prague in 2020, but an agreement could not be reached on a new deal.

Walker-Peters is not the only right-back under consideration

It was reported in the German media last week that the Irons are keeping tabs on FC Copenhagen fullback Rodrigo Huescas. The Mexican international is also a target for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and French side Marseille.

A possible alternative is Chelsea’s Axel Disasi. The Frenchman is currently on loan at Aston Villa but the Midlands club don’t have an option to sign the defender on a permanent basis.

Disasi can play at centre-half or right-back, so he could provide cover in two positions. Out of the three targets, Walker-Peters would, of course, be the cheapest, considering that he can be snapped up on a free transfer.
