Borussia Dortmund are reluctant to match the asking price of West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, according to reports in the German media.
Tabloid Bild claim that the Hammers are demanding around €30m (£26m) for the Greek international, but Dortmund are not keen on paying that amount.
The Bundesliga giants see Mavropanos as the ideal profile to replace Niklas Sule, who will leave Signal Iduna Park when his contract expires at the end of June.
However, they may have to move on to alternatives if the Hammers don’t lower their demands.
West Ham’s top-flight status may determine whether a bid is made
It is believed that Dortmund will wait and see what division Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are playing in next season before they decide on whether to make an offer.
Bild report that the London club’s relegation would “improve” Dortmund’s negotiating position if they do make an approach for Mavropanos this summer.

Is Mavropanos interested in leaving the London Stadium?
Sky Sports Deutschland have suggested that the 28-year-old would be “open” to a return to Germany, where he has played previously.
The Irons paid €25m for Mavropanos’s services when they signed him from Stuttgart in the summer of 2023.
Some fans would argue that even €30m would not be enough for the centre-back, considering the type of performances he has been putting in over the last few months.
However, West Ham may not be in a position to quibble if they do end up dropping down to the Championship. It has been reported that the club may need to balance the books even if they do stay up this season.
