West Ham Could Finally Sign Long Term Striker Target As He Is Put On The Market For £22M

Juventus are prepared to sell longstanding West Ham transfer target Jonathan David for between €25m (£22m) and €30m (£26m) this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Hammers were one of the teams hoping to recruit the Canadian international on a free transfer from Lille last year. However, the striker opted to join Juve instead.

Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for David in Italy this season, and Tuttosport claim that it is looking very likely that he will be sold over the coming months.

The 26-year-old has scored just 7 goals in all competitions, and Juventus are not willing to continue paying him his €6m (£5.22m) a year (net) salary due to his lacklustre performances.

David has not managed to replicate his past form in Italy

The forward was attracting plenty of interest as a free agent for good reason. At Lille last season, he found the back of the net 25 times and provided 12 assists.

It may simply be the case that the defensive tactics employed in Serie A have seriously impacted David’s game. Of course, there are no guarantees that he would fare any better in the Premier League but the Irons could consider taking a chance on him if the Canadian is available for a reasonable price.

West Ham face competition from 2 rival clubs

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are not the only team keeping an eye on David’s situation. Tuttosport report that Nottingham Forest and Ligue One giants Marseille are keen on securing his services too.

Of course, with both West Ham and Forest involved in a relegation battle, it is not expected that either team will firm up their transfer plans until they know what league they are playing in next season.
