EXWHUEmployee Says West Ham Could Make “Serious Push” To Sign England U21 Shot-Stopper

West Ham are huge admirers of Burnley no.1 James Trafford, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.

Speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (quotes via their website), Ex suggested that the Hammers could make a move for the England Under 21 international once the campaign is over:

“The club are looking at options as to whether we can upgrade on our goalkeeper department, with a potential push to invest.”

“James Trafford of Burnley is a player that the club very much admire, however, his availability depends on whether Burnley achieve promotion from the Championship this season.”

“Burnley’s outstanding defensive record this season has certainly caught the attention, and it could well be that we see a serious push for Trafford once the season concludes.”

Will there be competition for Trafford?

Newcastle have a longstanding interest in the 22-year-old, having made a bid for the keeper in last summer’s transfer window.

However, the Magpies weren’t willing to match Burnley’s valuation for Trafford at the time, which stood at £30m. His form for the Clarets this season may have pushed the price up even further, with his performances having also attracted other suitors.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Manchester United have been scouting the former Manchester City shot-stopper.

West Ham could offload Fabianski

Suggestions that the Irons are looking to reinforce their options in goal may suggest that one of the club’s current keepers will be let go.

As Lukasz Fabianski’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, the former Poland international would be the favourite to depart.

The 39-year-old has spent nearly seven years at the London Stadium but he could return to his homeland, with Legia Warsaw said to be keen on securing his signature.
