‘Pointless And Not What We Need’ ‘He’s So, So, So Average’ Fans React As West Ham Plot Move For Everton Star

Everton midfielder James Garner is among West Ham’s transfer targets ahead of the January window, according to reports.

ExWHYEmployee (via The West Ham Way website) suggests that the former Manchester United player is one of the names on the club’s shortlist.

Supporters on X don’t think that Garner should be targeted, as he doesn’t play in a position that needs to be strengthened:

Garner’s contract situation is a big factor

It should be pointed out that the 24-year-old is closing in on the final six months of his contract with Everton, and it doesn’t appear as if he will be offered an extension. Speaking last week about his future, Garner said:

“All I know at the moment [is] nothing’s going [on]. There’s been no talks. I know, obviously, my contract’s up in the summer, but from my side, I’ve heard nothing.”

The limited time remaining on Garner’s current deal means he could be available for a relatively reasonable price in the New Year.

West Ham will have competition for the midfielder

Newcastle United and his former club, Manchester United, are said to be keeping tabs on Garner’s situation too, but it isn’t known whether either team will step up their attempts to buy him in January or whether they will wait until the summer to secure his services on a free transfer.

The Hammers are clearly targeting him ahead of the next transfer window, so we shall have to wait and see if they can steal a march on their rivals.
