Nuno Tipped To Revive West Ham’s Pursuit Of Midfielder Who Was Once Described As “Yaya Toure 2.0”

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo may consider bringing Ibrahim Sangare to the London Stadium in the next transfer window, according to reports.

The Hammers had a loan offer rejected for the Ivorian international in the summer when Nuno was still in charge of his team, Nottingham Forest, but Claret & Hugh suggest that a move for Sangare could be revived in January.

Sangare was an unused substitute for Forest’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the weekend, having also failed to make the eleven for the previous Premier League fixture against Burnley.

In stark contrast, Nuno had selected the midfielder in the starting lineup for Forest’s first three matches prior to his sacking.

Sangare has been compared to a Man City legend

Speaking about his new teammate following his move to the City Ground in September 2023, Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White likened Sangare to a former Manchester City player:

“We played against PSV in a pre-season game, and we played against Sangare. He is a problem. I am talking Yaya Toure 2.0.”

“It’s just his athletic ability, so strong, he is explosive, he can get past people, but also, on the ball, you wouldn’t think it, but he is technically very strong.”

Do West Ham have the funds to sign him?

It is believed that the Irons were restricted in what they could do in the summer transfer market due to PSR, and it is likely that those limitations will still apply in the New Year.

Sangare’s move to the London Stadium only collapsed last month as the fee for the obligation to buy in the loan deal could not be agreed upon.

If the 27-year-old stays on the periphery of Forest’s squad until January, Forest might be more amenable on the price and allow a transfer to go ahead.
