ExWHUEmployee Confirms West Ham Have Been “In Talks” With Club Over Potential £55M Double Deal

West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool pair Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.

Speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast (quotes via their website), Ex confirmed that the Hammers have been “in talks” with the Premier League champions:

“We have been in talks all week and there is hope a deal could be achieved. Talks will continue to try and get a solution in the coming days. Tyler Morton is also a definite target that we are in discussions with.”

Although Ex doesn’t mention the price tag, the Daily Mail claim that Liverpool would want £55m for Elliott and Morton.

Do West Ham have the funds?

The Irons have already spent £19m of the £55m received from the sale of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham. El-Hadji Malick Diouf arrived at the London Stadium from Slavia Prague earlier this week.

It should also be noted that the deal for Kyle Walker-Peters will also include a signing-on bonus plus agent fees so it is not a free transfer.

With that being the case,  it is hard to see both Elliott and Morton being signed unless they manage to negotiate down the price or come up with another formula.

A loan to buy offer could be tabled

One of the solutions that has been suggested for Elliott is offering a loan deal with an option to buy. Considering that there are plenty of other suitors for the 22-year-old, it is hard to see Liverpool accepting such a proposal.

In addition to West Ham, the likes of Brighton, Fulham, Fiorentina and RB Leipzig have all been linked with signing the attacking midfielder. You would expect that one of those clubs will come up with the money if Graham Potter’s side can’t.
