West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott, according to reports.
TalkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs says that the Hammers are among the teams keen on securing his signature:
“You’ve got some Premier League interest from Brighton. I am also told that West Ham are considering both [Kiernan] Dewsbury-Hall and Harvey Elliott.”
“Fulham have made an enquiry as well… Leverkusen have ended their interest but Leipzig are another club to watch as well. And Fiorentina in Italy have also made an enquiry so plenty of interest. And I think at the right number, Liverpool might be prepared to sell.”
Elliott is unlikely to be available on the cheap
While it looks like the 22-year-old is on the market this summer, the amount of interest being shown in him means Liverpool won’t let him leave without their asking price being met.
Reports last month suggested a fee in the region of £40m might be required. Elliott has certainly caught the eye at the European Under 21 Championships, having scored both goals against the Netherlands in the semi-final on Wednesday night, but that would be a hefty outlay for Graham Potter’s side.
West Ham are still looking at Dewsbury-Hall
As The Telegraph’s Matt Law said last week, the Irons are keen on Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (along with Djordje Petrovic), and Jacobs has reiterated that the 26-year-old remains a target.
He would likely be let go for a lower price than Elliott. Chelsea paid £30m for Dewsbury-Hall last summer but they may even be prepared to offload him for less than that.
Of course, everything depends on West Ham’s transfer budget. Based on the noises coming out from the club, they still need to sell players before they can make major acquisitions.
