Lyon have been relegated to the French second division after a ruling from the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG).

They were originally demoted in November following an investigation into the club’s finances. The Ligue One side have racked up huge debts, but they had been selling first-team players in the hope that they would avoid the drop.

However, a decision earlier this week confirmed Lyon’s relegation, subject to an appeal. If the ruling stands, there could potentially be a fire sale on the cards.
