West Ham are weighing up a potential summer move for Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti, according to reports in Italy.
The 27-year-old is currently out of favour under head coach Luciano Spalletti, having not started a league game since the beginning of November.
Tuttosport claim that chief executive Damien Comolli would seriously consider selling Gatti if they receive a bid of around €20m (£17m), with the Hammers among his potential suitors.
The Italian is a fully-fledged international, having been capped 6 times by his country, so he comes with plenty of pedigree.
West Ham may need to replace Disasi
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo was keen on reinforcing the backline during the January transfer window, but the cluv waited until Deadline Day to secure the services of Axel Disasi on loan.
The Frenchman has proven to be a success so far, having impressed in his first few outings for the Irons, but the club does not have the option to buy the defender from Chelsea.
If Diasi doesn’t end up joining on a permanent basis, they will have to look at alternatives, and it appears Gatti is an option under consideration. To support the team, you could purchase the club’s latest kit, which you can get by visiting Castore’s store.
Other clubs are pursuing Gatti
The centre-half does have other suitors. Tuttosport report that AC Milan made a move for him in January, but they were only willing to take him on loan.
Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on Gatti as well, but West Ham’s main rivals are reportedly Ligue One side Lyon. They are expected to make an official offer this summer, but only if they qualify for the Champions League.
