West Ham tried to secure an audacious move for Real Madrid forward Endrick ahead of the transfer deadline, according to reports.
The Brazilian has been on the periphery of Real’s first team since he moved to the Bernabeu and TBRFootball claim that the Hammers “made contact” to find out whether he was available.
Endrick signed from Palmeiras for £50m last summer but he has only played 89 minutes in La Liga this season, being restricted to 14 brief substitute appearances.
West Ham wanted to find out whether Real would be open to offloading him, having also contacted his agents, but their enquiries were knocked back by both the club and the player.
Attempts were made to sign several forwards
It does look like the Irons were calling every agent and club under the sun to strengthen their forward line.
In addition to Endrick, the likes of Ajax’s Brian Brobbey, Lorient’s Eli Junior Kroupi, RB Leipzig’s Andre Silva and Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha were all considered.
Earlier in the month, a bid worth £57m was reportedly made for Jhon Duran but the Colombian international ultimately ended up leaving Aston Villa for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
Potter “happy” with new arrivals at West Ham
The London club did end up snapping up one striker, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, who has joined on loan until the end of the season, while midfielder James Ward-Prowse has returned from Nottingham Forest. Speaking about the club’s transfer business, head coach Graham Potter said:
“I’m happy. The players that we’ve got out at the moment are significant for us. When we get them back – which we will, hopefully, soon – that makes a difference to us. To get the two characters that we did, Evan and James, I think they will help the team improve training every day.”
