West Ham are likely to accept an improved offer from Brentford for El Hadji Malick Diouf, according to reports.

TalkSPORT claim that Keith Andrews’ team are lining up a bid worth up to £40m, and speaking to the Claret & Hugh, their “top transfer source” confirmed that a sale to the Bees is likely:

“Yes, I think it will happen. I think he’ll go to Brentford, but others are interested.”

The Hammers have already raised £155m from the departures of Mateus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville and Freddie Potts this summer, but that figure could soon get close to £200m.

Other clubs are interested in Diouf

The source does mention that Brentford are not the only team keen on snapping up the Senegalese international, so there is still a chance of a bidding war.

Manchester United have been linked with recruiting Diouf, and they are said to be in the market for a left-back, so you can’t completely rule them out from getting involved, especially if West Ham are open to selling for £40m.

Who could West Ham sign to replace the fullback?

The Irons were linked with Matt Targett earlier in the transfer window, but the former Newcastle player has subsequently joined Hull City on a free transfer instead.

It is believed that Sheffield United’s Harrison Burrows is among the candidates who could be signed as Diouf’s replacement.

The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Bramall Lane, having joined the Blades from Peterborough in the summer of 2024 for an undisclosed fee.

Last season, Burrows made 45 appearances for Chris Wilder’s team, scoring 5 goals and contributing 4 assists in all competitions.
