Manchester United and one of “other leading Premier League club” are exploring a move for West Ham left-back El-Hadji Diouf, according to reports.

The Guardian claim that the Red Devils are looking to provide competition for Luke Shaw, and they have identified the Senegalese international as a potential option.

The identity of the other club is not known at this stage, but the Hammers are said to be “aware” of the interest from Man United, at the very least.

Diouf only arrived from Slavia Prague for £19m last summer, but he has turned heads with some impressive performances during his first year at the London Stadium.

Would West Ham consider selling the fullback?

While The Guardian do not know whether the Irons would listen to offers, relegation from the Premier League would undoubtedly force their hand.

If Nuno Espirito Santo’s do stay up, though, things would be a lot different. The fact that there is more than one interested party means they could demand a lot more than the figure they paid for Diouf back in mid-July.

Diouf is not the only Hammers star with suitors

Both Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville are also expected to be the subject of bids from other teams at the end of the season.

Fernandes is on Man United’s radar too, as well as Man City’s, but Paris Saint-Germain are another club who could enter the race for his signature. Reports in France suggest that the European champions have made contact with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

PSG’s football advisor Jorge Campos has close connections with Mendes, having signed several of his clients over the years. It would, therefore, not be a surprise if the Ligue One side made an official approach for Fernandes.
