West Ham are lining up a very ambitious bid for Barcelona attacking midfielder Dro Fernandez, according to reports.
Writing on his Patreon, The Sun journalist Alan Nixon said that the Hammers are “keen” on snapping up the 17-year-old before his asking price skyrockets.
Fernandez has broken into Barca’s first-team this season, with head coach Hansi Flick having handed the youngster his debut against Real Sociedad last month.
The midfielder was replaced at halftime in that game, but he was given another chance to impress in the Champions League midweek.
Fernandez started on the left wing during the 6-1 win over Olympiakos last Tuesday, and he even got an assist, setting up Fermin Lopez for his second goal.
Do West Ham have a realistic chance of signing him?
At this stage, it is believed that the Irons are waiting in the wings to see how much game time he gets in upcoming matches.
If Fernandez doesn’t play on a regular basis between now and the January transfer window, there is a chance that an offer could be lodged.
It is still up for debate whether the teenager would be interested in a switch to the London Stadium. He has just made his first-team breakthrough so the only chance West Ham may have is if he becomes impatient and wants more minutes in the immediate future.
