West Ham are likely to be approached by “several clubs” for winger Crysencio Summerville this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his X account, Romano confirmed that the Hammers did receive two offers for the Dutchman in January – one from a Premier League rival and another from Italy.
Summerville was “happy” to stay at the London Stadium, at least until the summer, but things are expected to be “different” at the end of the season.
It means that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is facing a battle to keep hold of the 24-year-old, who has been one of his best performers in recent weeks.
Which clubs are interested in signing Summerville?
While Romano does not name the two teams who made bids, the Dutch media have. Tottenham and Roma are believed to have made contact about purchasing the forward.
Spurs’s interest has already been widely reported in recent weeks, although sources close to the Lilywhites did play down the speculation at the time.
After signing one winger, Mohammed Kudus, last year, it seems they could come back in for a second, only 12 months later.
Can West Ham keep hold of Summerville?
If the Irons are relegated, it seems almost guaranteed that the former Netherlands Under-21 international will be sold. Even if Santo’s men do stay up, though, it appears the player may still push to leave, if Romano’s information is to be believed.
How big a loss Summerville will be depends on his form over the next few months. It’s fair to say that the winger hasn’t exactly set the world alight since moving from Leeds for £25m at the start of last season, but he has begun to find his feet recently.
