West Ham Are Scouting The Next Yaya Toure But Premier League Rivals Are ‘Leading’ The Race To Sign Him

West Ham are one of four clubs interested in signing Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom, according to reports.

The Sun claim that the Hammers have been “scouting” the Cameroon international on a regular basis this season, along with Aston Villa.

Bournemouth are also in the mix to secure Avom’s signature as they have a partnership with Lorient. The Cherries have already managed to sign Dango Ouattara through that connection.

However, The Sun believe Chelsea are “leading” the battle for the 20-year-old. The Blues want to buy the midfielder and then loan him out to their feeder team, Strasbourg.

Avom’s future is in his hands

The player is nearing the final year of his contract so he is in a great position to consider his options and make a decision.

Avom could either move to the Premier League straight away or play in Ligue One with Strasbourg, which would be a step up on the second tier where he’s playing now.

At the moment, he has not made up his mind on where he will play next campaign so the Hammers are still in with a chance of snapping him up.

The West Ham target has been compared to an ex-City Star

Avom’s style of play has already drawn comparisions to Yaya Toure. He is a box-to-box midfielder, like the former Manchester City player.

The similarities don’t stop there –  the youngster also possesses great stamina and he is very capable in front of goal.

Irons boss Graham Potter is looking to add legs in midfield and Avom certainly possesses all the traits that he would be looking for.

West Ham could persuade the player to move to the London Stadium by giving guarantees about first-team football so we shall see how this transfer story develops.
