West Ham Weigh Up Surprise Move For Ex-Arsenal Star Who Can Be Signed For £10M

West Ham are among the Premier League teams considering whether to make an offer for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to reports.

The Swiss international moved to Germany from Arsenal two years ago but he is expected to leave his current team before the transfer window closes.

TBRFootball claim that the Hammers, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Sunderland are all interested in Xhaka.

Leverkusen are believed to be prepared to let the 32-year-old go for around £10m, making him a realistic target for all of those clubs.

Xhaka may snub a Premier League return

It is believed that the midfielder does have an offer on the table from Saudi Arabia, with Neom SC said to have made him a lucrative offer to make the switch.

Xhaka is reportedly seriously weighing up a move to the Middle East and, at the moment, the chances of him joining a Premier League team are not that high.

Saying that, though, a lot still depends on the player’s hunger. He could take the pay cheque and join Neom, but he may still hold a desire to play at the highest level.

West Ham are looking to strengthen their midfield

Xhaka is thought to be just one of several options that head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay and head coach Graham Potter are exploring as they look to reinforce numbers in the middle of the park.

Liverpool pair Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton are concrete targets, with the Irons having held talks with their club this week.

A move for former Aston Villa player Douglas Luiz can’t be ruled out either, while there is also said to be interest in the likes of current Villa star Jacob Ramsey and Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss.
