West Ham have an “agreement in principle” with Metz midfielder Alpha Toure, according to reports.

Africa Foot claim that the 20-year-old has essentially given his word to the Hammers that he will make the switch to the London Stadium this summer.

Toure was the subject of bids during the January transfer window, but he stayed in France.

At some point, though, it seems he did promise West Ham that he would join them at the end of the season.

Toure has rejected a move to Saudi Arabia

It is believed that Saudi Pro League side Al Diraiyah had an offer accepted for the Senegal youth international, but the player made it clear in no uncertain terms that he will not be going to the Middle East.

Toure is said to have his heart set on playing in England, with the Irons thought to be his priority, despite the fact they have been relegated from the Premier League.

West Ham have an offer lined up

Following Metz’s relegation from France’s top tier, Toure was always expected to leave, but they were clearly hoping he would accept the transfer to Saudi to ensure they would receive more money from his departure.

With the player having stood firm on his stance, though, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are set to swoop in and secure his services.

Africa Foot report that the club is “ready to pay” £6m to snap up Toure, so we shall have to wait and see whether this offer does in fact materialise over the coming days and weeks.

A move for another midfielder playing for a Ligue 2 outfit, Troyes’ Martin Adeline, is also reportedly in the works. A double deal could well be on the cards.
