“This Week Has Been Good” – Nuno Confirms Triple Team Selection Boost For West Ham

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo says James Ward-Prowse, Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should all be available for team selection.

Ward-Prowse and Todibo were controversially omitted from the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw against Everton on Monday night, and Nuno’s comments after the game suggested that neither player was injured. Speaking in his press conference before the Arsenal fixture, the manager shed some light on the pair’s current status:

“James wasn’t involved [at Everton]. Let’s see [if he returns at Arsenal]. We have one more training session. We always have the same mindset; What the team needs. It’s going to be a long season. It’s too early to say what we expect. We need the squad strong and healthy.”

“Today, we worked with 22 boys [on the training pitch], tomorrow is the day we make decisions. Todibo trained. Last week, he didn’t train in all the sessions. Now, he’s involved. We will see.”

Wan-Bissaka has returned after a month out

While there has been some debate among fans about Wan-Bissaka’s absence as well, the explanation that the fullback was suffering from illness felt more credible.

Nuno has now revealed that the former Manchester United player is training with the first-team squad again, having not played since the last international break:

“The same [for Wan-Bissaka], the same. Thank God, this week has been good. They are recovering.”

West Ham’s upcoming fixtures

Following Saturday’s match against Arsenal, fans will have to wait two weeks before the Irons’ next game.

Nuno’s men will take on Brentford at the London Stadium on Monday 20th October ahead of the fixture against Leeds away from home four days later.

There are also two more home matches against Newcastle and Burnley before the November international break.
