BBC Pundit Names 3 West Ham Players Alongside Arsenal And Chelsea Stars In His PL Team Of The Week

Troy Deeney has selected West Ham trio Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tomas Soucek in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The BBC pundit was particularly effusive in his praise of Kilman who he described as an “absolute monster” after helping to keep a clean sheet during the 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday evening.

Deeney was also complimentary towards Wan-Bissaka for both getting on the scoresheet as well as closing down the likes of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes.

Their contributions were crucial to the victory at St James’ Park which has eased the pressure on under-fire head coach Julen Lopetegui.

Who else did Deeney include in his ‘Team of the Week’?

Manchester United No.1 Andre Onana was named in goal after he made some important saves in his side’s 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Kilman and Wan-Bissaka are joined in defence by Tottenham pair Pedro Porro and Ben Davies who played a key role in Spurs’s shock 4-0 away victory versus champions Manchester City.

In midfield, Soucek lines up alongside James Maddison, who got himself a brace in that aforementioned win over City, with Arsenal’s Mikel Merino also selected by Deeney.

Up front, Mo Salah’s two goals for Liverpool against Southampton were enough for him to be included, along with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

Where does the Newcastle result leave West Ham?

The three points does not really move Lopetegui’s men that far up the table. They are currently sitting in 14th place with 15 points from 12 matches played.

However, it does get them further away from the relegation zone, with there now being a six-point gap between them and Ipswich in 18th.

It is still a far from ideal situation to be in but, after recent performances, the Newcastle result will certainly boost morale in the squad.
