Nuno Espirito Santo “has not told West Ham” whether he will stay beyond the end of the season, according to reports.
The Telegraph claim that the Hammers “want to keep” the 52-year-old even if the club suffers relegation to the Championship.
However, Nuno has not revealed his own intentions, having told West Ham’s hierarchy that he wants to focus on keeping the team in the English top-flight.
Consequently, there is still a lack of clarity about who will be in charge at the London Stadium when next campaign kicks off.
He will take a pay cut if West Ham are relegated
There is a clause in Nuno’s contract that means his salary will be lowered substantially if the Irons drop down into the Championship.
At the moment, it is not clear whether that would factor into the Portuguese’s decision to stay at the club beyond the summer.

Nuno has a good track record in the Championship
The 3-0 defeat to Brentford and Tottenham‘s subsequent 2-1 victory against Aston Villa has led to West Ham dropping into the relegation places with three games to go.
They may be just one point off safety, but Nuno’s men face leaders Arsenal this weekend, and Spurs could move clear if they beat Leeds.
It means that plans for what happens after relegation have to be considered. In that scenario, keeping Nuno would seem prudent, based on what he did during his time at Wolves.
Having finished 15th in the Championship in 2017, Nuno guided the Midlands club to 1st just a year later, ending the season on 99 points. He would then guide them to two consecutive 7th-place finishes after promotion to the top flight.
