4 Things Nuno Must Fix Straight Away After Becoming West Ham Coach

West Ham are set to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as Graham Potter’s replacement. If it hasn’t been officially announced by the time you read this, it soon will be.

The 51-year-old will be taking over a club which is in a complete mess, but based on his time at Nottingham Forest, there is hope that he can turn around the Hammers’ fortunes.

There are some matters, though, that Nuno will need to address immediately. Read below as we list 4 of the most pressing issues:

1) Improve Set Pieces

The Hammers have conceded 7 goals from set-pieces in the Premier League so far this season. That is 4 more than any other team in the English top-flight.

Such a problem must be addressed on the training pitch straight away. Nuno’s Nottingham Forest let in only 9 in the whole of last season.

That is the same number as Premier League champions Liverpool, so West Ham fans should be confident that the set-piece issue will be fixed.

2) Decide on a first-choice goalkeeper

Mads Hermansen has had a disastrous start to his West Ham career, and Potter did not show any patience by dropping him for the last game against Crystal Palace.

As anyone who has watched the Irons over the past year will know, his replacement, Alphonse Areola, has had his own problems with form.

Nuno will need to be ruthless and make a decision on his first choice. Reinstating Hermansen is probably the best thing to do, but the Dane will need to rediscover his confidence ASAP.
