West Ham Ace Nominated For PL Goal Of The Month Along With Chelsea, City And Liverpool Stars

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen is among the nominees for the official Premier League Goal of the Month award.

The forward completed a swift counter-attack with a fine finish during the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

New signing Max Kilman brushed off several challenges and carried the ball forward before picking out Bowen with a pass.

The 27-year-old then took the ball onto his stronger left foot and struck an unerring shot past Dean Henderson in the Palace goal to make it 2-0.

Tomas Soucek had put the Hammers in the lead just five minutes beforehand, and Bowen’s strike helped head coach Julen Lopetegui secure his first league victory in charge.

The West Ham star has started the season strongly

With Mohammed Kudus favouring the right wing, and Luis Guilherme having been signed from Palmeiras for a sizeable fee, Bowen is facing a lot of competition for his place.

However, after being named captain by Lopetegui during pre-season, he was always going to be a regular starter. As well as getting on the scoresheet against Palace, he also grabbed the winner in the Carabao Cup second-round tie against Bournemouth. It’s been a strong beginning to the campaign for him.

Who will Bowen be up against for the award?

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (for his goal against Wolves), Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma (v Everton), Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap (v Fulham), Wolves’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (v Nottingham Forest), Liverpool’s Luis Diaz (v Brentford), Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic (v Chelsea), and Yukinari Sugawawa (v Brentford) are also nominated for the Goal of the Month.

Fans can help Bowen win by heading to the Premier League website and casting their vote here. The competition closes at 12 pm BST on Monday, September 9th so fans don’t have much time to make their vote count.
