Jarrod Bowen Reveals Rallying Cry To Players As West Ham Deal Man United And Ten Hag Hammer Blow

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen says he made a speech to the rest of the squad following the 2-1 win over Manchester United at the weekend.

The forward scored the winner from the penalty spot but the Hammers had to recover from an appalling first-half display to get the result. Head coach Julen Lopetegui was forced into making three changes at half-time to shake things up and it had the desired effect, with Bowen stating that it demonstrates why having a squad is so important:

“I spoke in the dressing room about having a successful squad and wanting to win, and that requires everyone – not just the 11 starters.”

“It requires everyone, including those guys on the bench, and those who are injured or suspended.”

Bowen singles out one West Ham player for praise

Crysensio Summerville was one of those who came on at the break. The Dutchman has not been given many starts since his arrival from Leeds in the summer but he made a big impact against Man United in the second half, scoring the Irons’ first goal. Bowen was keen to highlight his teammate’s contribution:

“We all want the same thing – we all want to win. Crysencio is one example – I’m sure he’s been frustrated at times with his playing time, but he trains well and he’s one of the nicest people I’ve met, and now he’s got his reward.”

The result proved to be ten Hag’s final match in charge

It was announced on Monday morning that Erik ten Hag had left his role as Manchester United manager, following his team’s defeat at the London Stadium.

Considering Lopetegui’s job could have been on the line if he hadn’t picked up the three points on Sunday, it does show you how fortunes can be determined by just one result:
