West Ham Outcast Looks Set To Make Surprise Return To First Team Action

An agent has revealed that West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is a big fan of Edson Alvarez and wants him back playing games for the Hammers.

It is believed that the Mexican international has been training with the first-team squad, prompting speculation that he could feature in matches after the international break.

Speaking to website Claret & Hugh, the unnamed agent who was “involved” in Alvarez’s loan move to Fenerbahce, said:

“Nuno really likes him and told West Ham he doesn’t mind if he stays.”

The West Ham star has not played since the start of August

Alvarez’s last match for the Irons came against Portsmouth in the first round of the Carabao Cup early last month. He played the first 75 minutes of the 3-1 win before being replaced by El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Since then, the 28-year-old has not made the matchday squad, missing out on the last 10 games in all competitions.

It is believed that Alvarez and his representatives were trying to secure a move away from the London Stadium, but with the vast majority of transfer windows now closed, it does make sense to reintegrate the player – at least until January.

Alvarez could play in a friendly this week

West Ham are believed to have arranged a behind-closed-doors match at the Rush Green training ground, which is set to be held over the coming week or so.

The extended international break means there are 3 weeks without competitive football, and the players not called up by their countries need to maintain match fitness.

Alvarez is with the first-team squad, and if he features in the friendly, it may suggest that he will be in contention to face Queens Park Rangers at home a week on Friday.
