Declan Rice Makes Frank Admission About West Ham Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has admitted “it’s not nice to see” West Ham in the relegation places.

The England international came through the Hammers’ academy before being made captain, and he still appreciates what the club did for him following his release by Chelsea:

“It’s a club that gave me everything. Without West Ham, there’s no me. I honestly believe that. They gave me a chance when Chelsea didn’t .A lot of people there really did push me on. (David) Moyes, (Slaven) Bilic, and (Manuel) Pellegrini made me captain. There’s loads of good things about that club.”

West Ham face Rice’s Arsenal on Sunday evening, and the 27-year-old says that while a defeat for his former club would damage their chances of retaining their top-flight status, he will be doing all he can to ensure his team come away from the London Stadium with all three points:

“It’s not nice to see the position they are, but it’s football and I have a job to do. We’re trying to win a Premier League title. May the best team win.”

What are the odds of West Ham beating Arsenal?

The bookmakers don’t like the chances of Nuno‘s men securing a win this weekend. They are priced between 19/5 and 17/4 to come out on top.

A draw is regarded as the second likeliest outcome (between 29/10  and 16/5), but a victory for the Gunners is very much expected (13/20 to 4/7 odds-on).

A win would put the pressure back on Tottenham

Spurs will play Leeds a day later on Monday night football, so West Ham have the chance of getting out of the relegation zone this weekend.

The Irons are one point adrift of safety heading into the final three fixtures of the campaign.
