West Ham Boss Among 5 Nominees For Premier League Manager Of The Month

West Ham manager David Moyes has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award.

The Hammers boss will be competing with the likes of Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou and Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta.

All five managers were unbeaten in the month of August, although Guardiola was the only one to keep a 100% record, having won games against Burnley, Newcastle and Sheffield United.

Even so, the winner of the prize shouldn’t necessarily come down to just results. After drawing their opening game against Bournemouth, the Irons put in two impressive performances against Chelsea and Brighton.

David Moyes’ men won 3-1 at home to the Blues and then followed it up a week later by securing an excellent victory on the road versus Seagulls at the Amex.

West Ham have made an unexpectedly strong start to the season

Over the summer, many supporters were pessimistic about the club’s chances, having lost captain Declan Rice to Arsenal.

The Hammers were also slow to make any signings and, after finishing 14th last campaign, just six points off the relegation zone, there were fears that the London club could have another difficult year.

However, West Ham’s recruitment drive in the latter stages of the transfer window proved fruitful, with the arrivals of Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Mohammed Kudus. There is now a feeling that, under the guidance of David Moyes, this team can compete in the upper echelons of the Premier League.
