West Ham are considering former Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao as one of the candidates to replace Julen Lopetegui, according to TBRFootball.
The website claims that Lopetegui retains the backing of owner David Sullivan and the board but the club have started looking at potential options if they do need to sack the Spaniard.
Conceicao is currently out of work, having left Porto at the end of last season, and it is believed that the Hammers have sounded him out to discover whether he would be interested in moving to the London Stadium.
TBR report that several teams on the continent are also circling the Portuguese manager so there is a danger that West Ham could miss out on him if they wait too long.
What do West Ham fans need to know about Conceicao?
The 49-year-old had a successful playing career, starting out at Porto before playing for the likes of Lazio, Parma and Inter Milan in the early to mid-00s.
Conceicao did return to Porto following his time in Italy and then ended his career with spells in Belgium, Kuwait and Greece.
He moved into coaching in 2010, having managed Olhanense, Academica, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes and Nantes prior to his stint at Porto. He won three Liga Portugal titles in his seven-year spell with the club, as well as four Portuguese Cups, one Portuguese League Cup and three Super Cups. He left in June following the election of Andre Villas-Boas as club president.
Lopetegui needs a win this weekend
The current manager is under the cosh heading into Sunday’s clash against Manchester United. The heavy defeat to Tottenham has led to many fans questioning Lopetegui’s management.
A victory would settle things down but another loss may prompt the Irons into taking action, with Conceicao seemingly waiting in the wings to take the reins.
